1. SOMETHING FOR YOUR HEART
“. . . in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:6)

Want your life to be complicated? Really confused and stressful and messy? It’s easy to accomplish: Just give some of your life to the Lord. Just acknowledge Him in some of your ways. And then save the rest of your ways for yourself.

Trust me. It’s like signing up for a multiple personality disorder. Why? Because God’s way is not your way. If you make a commitment to trust Him in some things and not others, you’ll always be trying to keep the parts of yourself a secret from the other parts of yourself.

I’m not saying it can’t be done. Most of us do it every day. I’m just saying it sucks. James called it being “double minded and unstable,” this trusting in God some and me some. And it leads to foolish living and giant headaches.

Want to live simple? Want to walk a straight-ahead path that’s going somewhere? Trust God with 100 percent of your heart and acknowledge Him in all of your ways.

Think: What would you lose if you trusted God by obeying Him in every part of your life? What would you gain?

Pray: Ask God to help you to acknowledge Him in all of your ways.

Do: Make a quick list of parts of your life that you tend to keep away from God, that you’d rather not let the “God part” of your life know about.

3. FORGETTABLE FACT
More than ten people a year are killed by vending machines.

4. POTENT QUOTABLES

Love is never lost. If not reciprocated, it will flow back and soften and purify the heart.
~ Washington Irving

To love another person is to see the face of God.
~ Les Miserables

5. UH, THAT’S FUNNY?

‘You should be ashamed,’ the father told his son, Andy,

‘When Abraham Lincoln was your age, he used to walk ten miles every day to get to school.’

‘Really?’ Andy responded. ‘Well, when he was your age, he was president.’

Activity at Area 12:2 is in full swing! Every Sunday morning at 9:30 we have Bible Study in the Teen Room. Currently we are working through a study on “The Dark Knight” with Mr. Peitsch. Bagels, juice and hot chocolate are always available. Jr. High Teen Night meets every 2nd and 4th Tuesday night from 7:00-8:30pm. High School Teen Night meets every Sunday night from 7-9pm, and is currently working through the TRUE U series, which answers questions like, “Does God exist?” and “How do I defend my faith?” The Mexicali season is underway, with planning sessions every other Sunday afternoon. Winter retreats at Springhill are coming up as well. This summer we will be heading to New Orleans for the LCMS National Youth Gathering, where our own youth praise band, The Living Stones, will be leading worship! Finally, in August, we will head to Ann Arbor for the annual Michigan Jr. High Youth Gathering. As you can see, there are many opportunities for you to “renew your mind” at Area 12:2. Check out our site, and if you have further questions, don’t desitate to email for more information.

God’s Peace,

Dave Priskorn, Director of Youth Ministry

Beware of construction on Square Lake Rd between Woodward and Telegraph. Bring a bathing suit and towel, and $3 for food.

Also this week we are starting The Truth Project for teens. We will meet on Sundays from 12:30-2:00pm in the teen room. This is great material, especially for students who attend public school, or will be in college soon. Or are already in college. Learn why you believe what you believe, and how to defend your faith.

Have a great weekend. See you at church and the Hall’s House!

Hey Everyone,

Just a reminder, next week’s Senior High Teen Nite is going to be held at the Hall’s house. Which is at 2448 Hammond Lake Drive, Bloomfield Hills, MI. Click on the address to get MapQuest directions. Don’t forget to bring your swimsuit and towel. If you need a ride we will be leaving the church at 6:30pm.

See ya there!

Hey Everyone!

Senior High Teen Nite is set to start Sunday September 13th at its usual time (7pm for those who don’t know). The dates for Jr. High Teen Nite have not been decided yet but should be available soon. We’ll send out another email when they are ready but you can also check the website for faster results. Thank you and we can’t wait to see you in a month!

Hey Everyone!

It’s been a while since the last new update, but there’s still some stuff going on. We just had the Ablaze! Torch Relay at Historic Trinity Church in Detroit, where Robert Louis Ferdinand ran and carried a torch 5 miles to Historic Trinity. The Living Stones played for everyone and we had an awesome message from Rev. Bill Yonker. Also coming up next year is the Acquire the Fire Concert Tour. Acquire the Fire is a 27-hour, life transforming event built around bring volume and clarity to God’s voice in the lives of teenagers. We will have sign up forms when they are ready. One final thing before we finish up here, the Area 12:2 website is now FINALLY finished. We now have a photo uploader, blog sign up, and new and improved download and calendar pages. We are still missing photos for Jr. and Sr. High slideshows. We need about 40 photos from last years Jr. and Sr. High Teen Nites so that we can put together a slideshow for the site. We can always use more photos from the different mission trips and retreats too! We can’t wait till Teen Nite starts up again in a few months and we hope to see you all there!

The Area 12:2 Website is currently unavailable. We are in the midst of redesigning it. If you would like to go to the old site, please visit parking.area12-2.org. It contains some glitches still but we are in the process of fixing everything.

Just a heads up. The Living Stones will be playing on June 7th in the OSLC Gym. The concert is at 7pm and is open to everyone so invite your friends! See ya!
