Hey Everyone!

It’s been a while since the last new update, but there’s still some stuff going on. We just had the Ablaze! Torch Relay at Historic Trinity Church in Detroit, where Robert Louis Ferdinand ran and carried a torch 5 miles to Historic Trinity. The Living Stones played for everyone and we had an awesome message from Rev. Bill Yonker. Also coming up next year is the Acquire the Fire Concert Tour. Acquire the Fire is a 27-hour, life transforming event built around bring volume and clarity to God’s voice in the lives of teenagers. We will have sign up forms when they are ready. One final thing before we finish up here, the Area 12:2 website is now FINALLY finished. We now have a photo uploader, blog sign up, and new and improved download and calendar pages. We are still missing photos for Jr. and Sr. High slideshows. We need about 40 photos from last years Jr. and Sr. High Teen Nites so that we can put together a slideshow for the site. We can always use more photos from the different mission trips and retreats too! We can’t wait till Teen Nite starts up again in a few months and we hope to see you all there!

Under Construction

The Area 12:2 Website is currently unavailable. We are in the midst of redesigning it. If you would like to go to the old site, please visit parking.area12-2.org. It contains some glitches still but we are in the process of fixing everything.

The Living Stones in Concert

Just a heads up. The Living Stones will be playing on June 7th in the OSLC Gym. The concert is at 7pm and is open to everyone so invite your friends! See ya!

Pardon Our Dust

If you haven’t noticed, we’ve been making many small changes to the Teen Nite website. We’ve been looking for ways to improve it but we can’t seem to find what we want. We’re looking to make it more interactive, make it draw attention to new updates and events, and above all, make it exciting. We’ll be re-configuring the website again this Sunday and if you have any suggestions or comments on what we should do we would love to here them! See you all at the Final Teen Nites!

Winding Down

The year may be winding down, but we have 2 exciting Teen Nights left! The final Jr. High Teen Night of the school year is next Tuesday, May 12 from 7:00-8:30pm in the Teen Room at Our Shepherd Church. This Teen Night is for current 6th and 7th graders. The final High School Teen Night is Sunday, May 17 from 7:00-9:00pm, and is for current 8th – 12th graders. (There is NO High School Teen Night this weekend, May 10 – Take your Mom out for dinner!)

Hope to see you there!

Debriefing!

Well we made it safely back to California!  Our mission team of 43 is now showered and well rested.  Before boarding the plane in about 3 hours, we will spend some time debfriefing and sharing how the past week has impacted our lives.  We spent the past five days leading Vacation Bible School, Adult Bible classes, and sports ministries at churches in three Mexicali villages.  We also spent one afternoon painting the interior of a house that was built last week by another Michigan team, and leading evening worship services at each of the churches where we served.  Many of our students were also able to spend a day ministering at a prison.  Every day, there were many “God-sightings.”  Our days started and ended with chapel at our camp, Tent City.  Each of us feels blessed to have been able to be a part of this mission.  We ask for your prayers for safe travel home, and look forward to sharing our stories with you on Saturday evening at the 6pm worship service.

See you all soon!

-Dave

Mexicali Day 1
